Hi! You poor sweetie! I've been to so many doctors in my 50 some years and I started the same as you--afraid that my lover would find my body's natural fuctions and odors offensive. Don't worry! But doucheing can cause many problems. It disturbs the natural balance of the vagina and can result in infections and you can get irritations easier because you are flushing your protective secrections out. Now, I never douche. You don't need to and many doctors will tell you if there is any ingredients that smell good then it may cause cancer. Doctors will tell you not to even use harsh soap or deoderant sprays or pads. The best to shower with is a clear soap, Dove or your shampoo which has a lower ph balance. (They are all better for preventing aging also)
After sex or masterbation always pee. Always!--that helps to keep you from a urinary tract infection. Then cleanse with a cloth that has been washed with bleach in your machine. (the best color for the cloth is white.) The best undies to wear is white also to keep away infection. Dark colors help bacteria breed. After you have sex and pee, go back and lay by your lover's side and smile and bask in love and warmth and intimacy. Men don't like to talk after sex so just cuddle. If you still are worried and feel dirty without doucheing, the best is a vinegar douche. Or talk to your doctor to see if you are acidic or non-acidic and then he can tell you a better one. Talk with a doctor. Also, I would never douche more than once a month. Again, don't worry because most men enjoy a woman's natural smell. It turns them on. If you really think you smell bad talk to a doctor, cuz then it could be something more problematic. There shouldn't be a bad smell unless you eat alot of fish or garlic, or asparagas. They sometimes cause funny odors. But that's not something to douche, it's in your secretions. I hope this helps! God bless you sweetie!

I have hear from gyn doctor's that douching is not good for you. Occasionally if you feel the need to douche after a period, it won't hurt; but it is usually not necessary. Frequent douching (and certainly weekly is frequent) can cause more harm than good. It can get you good bacteria out of whack and create a yeast infection.

Have you been instructed by your Doctor that you SHOULD douche? If not, why are you? When you use douche products, you run the risk of allergies (that part of your body can be very sensitive), changing your vaginal Ph (can allow yeast infections to happen), etc.. Unless there is a medical reason, don't. Good luck!

any decent gyn will tell you douching is not healthy for a woman it clears away the lining on the wall in the uterus that might some day cause you not to be able to carry a child but more then that will leave you open to infections there and that no woman want

Never!! Douching pushes unwanted bacteria further up into your vagina, which can cause infections. So its best not to douche at all. Just take a long hot bath.

You should not douche at all. I am not sure where this thing came from, but I think it was a man that invented it. They should not even be sold in the shops. They can effect the natural flora of the vagina in a negative way.

Douching is not recommended unless advised by your MD or Provider. It upsets the natural flora (bacteria) in the vagina.

Don't do it at all!!!!!

Douching is awful for you. The vaginal canal is a naturally cleansing organ and does not need those nasty chemicals in it to mess up the PH. In addition, it can spread infection.

I only douched after my hysterectomy, to clear up some spots that were not healing. I've always heard that douches control odor-- I believe if it smells it is sick............
