I believe they're called "grills" and lots of rappers wear them as "bling" for their mouths. Personally, I think they look retarded!

At first, they were to protect the enamel of sensitive teeth, and it eventually became a statement after many had to wear them since they've gotten in fights. It is just a new accessory, like tongue rings, navel rings, labraie piercings, etc. It all depends on who wears them, the more straight your teeth are, the better it looks. Grills don't suit everybody.

It may look ugly, but they just want another way to show off their wealth. It was started by people who had bad teeth and wanted to cover it up, but now there are people with perfectly good teeth who do that. The grills probably attract the lowest denominator of women anyway, who are just interested in the flash and the cash.

Hes wearing GRILLZ on his teeth. Lots of rappers wear them. ITS a hip-hop thing. The BLING BLING for the teeth.
LIL JOHN looks a mess wearing all that gold in his mouth. IT makes him look even uglier.

He wears grillz made of platinum, diamonds, and gold. Its like "Bling Bling" for your mouth.
A lot of these commercial rappers wear them like Nelly, Chingy, Bow Wow, Paul Wall, etc...
They think it makes them look sexy, but I think it looks ridiculous.

Grillz... there is a song called Grillz.. listen to that.. that pretty much tells u everything.. GRILLZ ARE... well they are bling that u put on your teeth when u have extra money for em... People think there hot, but they are GROSS to me!!
