LYRICS include :

Shake your money maker
Like somebody's bout to pay ya
I see you on my radar
Don't you act like you're a faker

Shake, shake, shake your money maker
Like you were shaking it for some paper
It took your momma 9 months to make ya
Might as well shake what your momma gave ya

only if you take offense to it i guess, but since it is just a song, i really could care less... besides, rap music isnt the only music that degrades women- what about hard rock??

who cares- if it has nothing to do with me, it is of no interest to me, if the music is good, then i will sit and enjoy it. The only people who take offense are those who take what they are saying literally...

There's that kind of rap, then there's the kind of rap with these lyrics:

And uhh, I know they like to beat ya down a lot
When you come around the block brothas clown a lot
But please don't cry, dry your eyes, never let up
Forgive but don't forget, girl keep your head up
And when he tells you you ain't nuttin don't believe him
And if he can't learn to love you you should leave him
Cause sista you don't need him
And I ain't tryin to gas ya up, I just call em how I see em
You know it makes me unhappy (what's that)
When brothas make babies, and leave a young mother to be a pappy
And since we all came from a woman
Got our name from a woman and our game from a woman
I wonder why we take from our women
Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?
I think it's time to kill for our women
Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't we'll have a race of babies
That will hate the ladies, that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
He has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one
So will the real men get up
I know you're fed up ladies, but keep your head up

That's from Tupac's song "Keep Ya Head Up", which is completely different from today's mainstream rap. Download it and listen to the whole song. There's also "Dear Mama" by Tupac, give it a listen as well.

On a side note, I don't think "Money Maker" is really degrading to women, it's just a dance song and it's meant to get everyone on the dance floor. There are worse misogynistic lyrics out there.

Of course SOME rap music is, but not all.
Just like some of all different genres of music can be offensive.

Try artists who aren't gangsta rap - Lyrics Born, Jurassic 5, Ugly Duckling, Argyle Pimps, Crown City Rockers, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Arressted Development, Blackalicious, Estelle, M.I.A., Lady Sovereign, Bahamadia, Jean Grae...

the Beastie Boys - who had the first ever #1 rap album said in their song Sure Shot 'I want to say a little something that's long overdue / the disrespect to women has got to be through / so to all the mothers and sisters and wives and friends / I want to offer my love and respect to the end'

What about ACDC "You Shook Me All Night Long" or Motley Crue's "Girls Girls Girls"? There are also female rappers like Lil Kim who rap right back about turning the tables and using that sexual sh!t against the guys, using and playing some men like obedient toys.

Is rap degrading to women? To me, it's just music. It's not like they're spouting real hatred of women, like rapping about killing women out of spite. There's a line between, say, f**king around like drinking buddies and being blatantly disrespectful.

Sex sells. Many of rap's fanbase just take the ignorant image way too serious. IT'S MUSIC. That's ALL it is. Guys have always been that way about women, though, to a certain degree anyway with or without rap music. And probably always will be. It's why guys invented strip clubs and why guys hit on women so aggressively.

"The average male" supposedly "thinks of sex every seven seconds."

Regardless of all that, though, if some "macho" idiotic guy is so influenced by the music, and the whole ignorant culture that has grew among many of it's"thugs" (lol), that he will hit a woman like a cowardly piece of sh!t, he needs to have his manhood cut off, so his easily impressionable retarded @ss can't reproduce.

That said, to me, it's the context of words use that are important. Words like ***** or $lut can actually be fun in the bedroom, or just to joke around with, if you're not too much of a prude, like many girls are who adamantly complain about sexism in rap music. The types who talk about wanting their men to be more romantic, but on the flip side, these "delicate little flowers" don't even care to try and be more adventuresome or dirty.

It's not rap music, that is far too general. I think this is a common mentality among these sort of artists, and apparently it makes for a good rap song. which i don't buy. I have some respect for the genre, but not any of the senseless lyrics that seem to dominate modern rap. Somebody needs to get out there and teach these boys a lesson. And before anyone blames it on their upbringing, that is definately no excuse. It is degrading and anyone with any sort of maturity should be able to recognise that and correct their ways.

Where have you been? Rap has always been degrading to women! I can't believe there are women who actually listen to that crap. Their videos depict women as nothing more than a piece of meat (the women in the videos have to be either completely hard up for money or dumb as a box of rocks for paticipating!) Rap is downright degrading as a music form period. How much talent does it really take to recite a rhyme to the same beat while trying to hold your pants up! Heres to all the musically challenged people who made these people rich and famous.

That specific song is not for it is talking about it all in good fun, she'll be getting money so it's an even trade, no one has to do anything they don't want to do. As a general statement, yes certain songs realize how sheisty certain male to female interactions are and would prefer to uphold their machismo antics than to be perceived as weak, putting their love first and risking getting hurt and looking inferior.
