Really not much, in my opinion. The only thing is more Computer Controlled enhancements; Anti-Lock Brakes, Fuel control, Suspension, things like that.
For the future we may eventually see dramatic changes with the Hydrogen Cars, but, I really not think they push this, until they milk oil for all it's worth.

"Changed" is a relative term, but the basic architecture of the car hasn't changed since it was invented - 4 wheels, a steering device, engine, some kind of transmission and seats. We still don't have hovercrafts, George Jetson flying cars or the things they have in Star Wars. Cars have evolved over time, gradually gaining what we take for granted today - sealed/enclosed cabins, power steering/brakes, automatic transmissions, stereos, cruise control, windshields (& wipers), seat belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes, etc. Wasn't long ago we didn't have half of those things on cars like we do today. Heck even as early as 1996 I had a pickup truck with MANUAL crank windows!! The biggest change have been the engines. In 1982 the average horsepower output was less than 100. Today, it's over 200. And look at all the hybrid engines that have come out. Half gas engine half electric motor. I don't think we'll ever replace the gas engine completely, at least not in our lifetimes. So enjoy them while you can. I could go on forever but I'll let someone else take a crack at it. :)
