The "Double Diamonds" and it's varation, "Double Diamond Deluxe" work out well--given you play the quarter denomination and only 2 coins max spin (your odds sink a tad past that). These two machines always work well for me.
Also on the quarter/2 coin max spin, I find the "Triple Double Dollars" machine is excellent. Bear in mind, however, the player must contain both their greed (for it is a "tripler win" machine) and be aware of both timing and credit combination play.
The Triple Red, White and Blue is fun and has at times served me well, too.
If you like a whiskey shot straight up 50/50 odds chance of hitting, the "Sizzlin 7's" machine is your game. You must, however play a minimum 2 coins per spin. You play single coin and hit all 7's---you do NOT win!
Progressives and multi-line machines are for suckers: avoid 'em.
Single line penny or nickel slots are fun if you have some time to kill.....and they're highly popular, too.
Oh...and there's a 3 coin max play/single-line machine that has Double Diamond, Triple Diamond AND Triple/Double Dollar icons that is very hard to win on. Also, steer clear of the "Home Run" type machines, too.

If I ever play them, I like the poker machines. I RARELY play them anymore. (1 time per year perhaps.) Long ago I hit a $4,000 jackpot. It was draw poker and I was dealt a royal flush right straight out on the first 5 cards! The machine "held" the cards for me, and the bells rang right away. Very exciting, but I've lost so much money since then, that I wish I never stuck so much as a quarter into any slot machine ever. They are such a waste. Play them long enough and I guarantee you'll hit at least a small jackpot at some point in time in your life. Play them long enough, however, and I guarantee you will always spend more than you ever win in total.

The ones that are called Haywire. Even if you don't get three 7's or stars or cherries, all you need is to get one haywire ( it's like a wild). The machine then spins it's self and will keep spinning until it hits something for you. So as long as you get a haywire the machine pays off. I played it for nickles on the Carnival cruise ship and just inserted $1.00 in nickles. Less than two minutes later i had $50.00. I quit after that because I didn't want to press my luck. The next time I went to Reno I played Haywire again and won $200 in quarters. I don't remember how long i was on the machine but i know I only had one roll of quarters on me and that's only $10.00 So I advise you to try those.

My husband and I LOVE the Wheel of Fortune slot machines! Not the "electronic" kind, but the real slot ones, if that makes sense! My husband has one $500.00 on the dollar ones and we have hit the 1000 quarters many times on the 25 cent ones! They are fun, but always play max bet or you won't get the "spins"!!

Black & white hits alot, red, white & blue is my favorite at the big casinos. I also find that machines in the high roller sections hit more often. Hope this helps.

video poker gives you better odds, but then again better odds on a machine is kind of a oxymoron
