What did he do? Are you kidding me? Had it not been for George Washington, there would be no USA. He commanded the rag-tag troops, turned them into an army and defeated the British in several key battles by means of superior military strategy. Have you never heard of the winter at Valley Forge? It was so cold and provisions were so sparse that men were dropping like flies. Their enlistments expired January 1st and so Washington gave the speech of all speeches - Washington's Farewell to the Troops - and convinced them, though they were starving and freezing to fight on. Had he not re-commissioned those troops, there would have been no army and hence, no USA. He was our best general, far and away.

Laboring against great difficulties, he created the Continental Army, which fought and won the American Revolution (1775-1783), out of what was little more than an armed mob. After an eight-year struggle, his design for victory brought final defeat to the British at Yorktown, Virginia, and forced Great Britain to grant independence to its overseas possession.

He was a general that failed quite miserably at the start of his career at Fort Necessity. Later, he signed a letter of responsibility for fault at a different battle and can now be called an assassin.

At the time, he was one of the Generals who led American minutemen/soldiers. As for his purpose, I'm blank on that.

Seems like you got the correct answers, but let me point something out; 'What' is spelled w-h-a-t not w-a-t.
