When ever my significant other, boyfriend, gets angry he insults me by calling me B@#$%, or he tells me that I cling like a leech. I told him that if he keeps this s%^&* up that I'm willing to sacrifice the 5 year relationship for something better. When I do leave. He calls non-stop. Apologizing and telling me that he will try harder to respect me. Should I give him the boot or have him buy me more "chattels"?

Of course I love him. I never knew he was a well of guy until he started to make semi-empty promises. Then when he couldn't be there for me he started to buy me things.

A man is less willing to change in any situation, and he will not change in this situation either, you have him against the wall. With out you its a loving man hand relationship, so he will say anything to get you back, yes things will be fine for a bit, but then the real him will shine throw... Go with what your heart tells, yells or is screaming at you, and since you have asked this question, you know what to do.

Give him the boot before you waste more years than you already have. One tires of apologies, especially when behaviour doesn't change. It's easy to say "I'm sorry," but not repeatedly, & he shouldn't have to "...try harder to respect [you]" You'll never convince him, or control him, or hope--that he will be other than he is. If a guy swore at me ONCE, I'd not give him another chance.

Anyway, I think you shoudl break up with him because I doubt you're going to want to be with that for the rest of your life. It will be harder to walk out after you two are married and have kids.
I'd tell you that you're a ***** for using him but I'd be a hyporcrite for saying that. When you do dump his *** after you're done getting what you want, DO NOT tell him that you'll pay him back for his gifts and whatnot. If you do, he can take you to court and sue you.

Sounds like this type of behavior is typical of both of you in the relationship. If you don't like it then get out. If you want to work things out and you don't like him speaking to you that way - don't speak that way to him either. Break the cycle.
Maybe the "leech" reference has to do with your attitude about "chattel". Why would you sell yourself out for "things"??

Thats a good questiion are you with him cause he pays your bills and gives you money,,or because you love him ask yourself that...if you love him then there is ways around his anger sounds like he just need a anger managment class or two,,,,and maybe you are a little to clingy....if you just want him for money then i guess thats your choice of how much you want to suck out of him,,,,

I don't care how much a person (who is suppose to love you) is upset. They should never talk that way about the other person.

If he didn't use the 'C' word, he doesn't really what he is saying, he is just trying to get your attention. Also, he has a limited vocabulary.... tell him to try something different, ask him to tell you how he feels without using those words. If he can't get out of the cursing rut, its time to move on.

Get rid of him! Yes you might love him and he may provide for you financially and obviously thinks that money solves everything but, respect is free and he doesn't have any!! You deserve better than to be spoken to like that!!
