Check out how the job situation would be for you, talk to people who do what you do there about how easy/difficult it is to find jobs there. Ask lots of questions of waiters and waitresses, like what the good affordable neighborhoods are and what people do for fun there. Sit in rush hour if it is a driving town and see if that is manageable for you. Find out if people feel safe walking around in the evening, or if security is more of a concern. And above all, just have fun there!

Have you found a moving service yet? At ABF we offer a service called U-Pack Moving that is very affordable for a long-distance move like yours. We bring you the truck at your residence, you pack and load your stuff and then we pick it up and drive it to your new residence. You pay only for the space you use in the truck. It's a reliable and reputable company, with good reviews on Epinions.com and MovingScam.com. Check out our website and get a free quote: www.upack.com.
Good luck!

Think of your reasons of moving. What motivates you to move, what are the short term and long term benefits of each place. Employment is a pretty important thing to have wherever you move. But most importantly move to the place where you feel inner peace when you walk through the streets. I mean the city itself and not all the attractions.

Get a 5 year Real Estate market growth report. This will tell you whether it a good area or bad area. Real Estate tends to go down in bad areas. IMAGINE THAT. Also if you have kids or wants kids check out schools and surrounding areas. Also it never hurts to stop in a community center and just talk to the people there.

if you mention the city and/or state, you may fidn people from there who could tell you. i would recomend attending a public event there, like a sponsored breakfast, where you could meet people. if your religious, maybe attend a service at the church you would be attending.
