Emma, you answered your own question, leaves very little for me to say. But I think the repuglicans realize that they are in trouble. To late I hope as I hope we have a government of checks and balance again. The best legislation comes out of compromise.

You have never been in a position to send men out to die for you or this country so I can understand you ignorance on this subject. This is the reason you have been easy pray for the press.
There isn't a day that gos by that Bush hasn't thought about what is going on in Iraq, and he will be living with his decisions for the rest of his life. But in the end he has to decide what rout will cost the US the least amount of lives. All the press cares about is political power.
If Bush was a coward that only cared about his pole numbers he would never have gone into Iraq and we would be living with never ending bombings here in the US.
The only reason you think they are just starting to take a hard look now is because they are forcing you to take a hard look at what is going on before you go vote.

let's see:THEY ARE IDIOTS! wow, that was easy! people do not care or pretend to care as well as "focusing on other matters" which is bull such as what, how the economy is downhill because of the leader of our nation, then nice job airheads! people do not look and see what is going on throughout the world but they would rather focus on what is happening in the US which is ...nothing except a bunch of crap?if a person is not so narrow minded as Bush and his Cabinet and all the Republicans who have comment upon comment that Bush is doing a good job, wow, they must of been in denial for a while because no good comes out of a war or anything that Bush starts! he might of taken a look at Iraq because his advisors which obviously are slow, told him to do so and to impress the whole nation!not! our Pres. is no leader, he is no diplomat and certainly he is the last person on Earth that most people like and you could say arrogant. arrogant, stupid as well as so called " intelectuals" who know crap about the world on a day to day basis are just no ones and the result is our President! if it took him that long to look at the situation in Iraq how long would it take him to fix it if he could be President for eternity? forever is my guess! no amount of apology, no amount of money nor any amount of disgrace that we as a country have showed thru our President is unforgettable! I guess that Bush had to make a good impression upon us the citizens as well as the world but he didnt! he lacked that since he lacks a lot of common sense, diplomacy, the cahracteristics of a leader and is more like a puppy! it took the Republicans by surprise to realize that they are disliked not only by their own nation but as well as the world which is sad! right now because of not paying attention to the crises around the world we are the most hated country in the world where no one can say two good words about us and where they do not look up to us but rather down on us! i do not think that Pres. Bush had any idea what an effect it would be upon the world as well as his country to ignore the crises and focus on our domestic problems which is selfish or maybe he needed some time out and to go hunting or something.

He doesn't mean to do anything about Iraq at all, it's only a ploy so people will vote for republicans.
Anyone who believes anything that comes out of the mouths of republicans is looking for more trouble then they can handle.
It's been the republicans who have put all of us in peril and if any of them cared they would have at least tried to stop Bush but seeing as none of them give a toot for anyone other then themselves, we are in Bush "hell" and will remain there for some time to come.
I for one have learned the hard way not to ever vote for any more republicans no matter what.

As of today, that "Stay the course..." bull-dinky is gone.
He finally asked some of the people who know a little about what's going on for advice. For the first time.
He is running very scared right now as he can see that he's headed towards being the second Bush to blow it in Iraq.

To pacify his party and the masses to make it look like he is going to do something good for a change and then renegs after the election like he has always done. It's called "smoke screen" baby. Get'em elected, even if ya have to lie.

Because Americans expect the Iraq situation to be perfect overnight. It takes time. The biggest problem is this is a public relations war. Americans do not understand what war is all about.

Maybe we don't need a President. Just get a giant switchboard, everybody can call in, and we can govern by telephone like American Idol.
