Yes. I used to really enjoy it. I would dress up to answer the call of trick or treaters and they would enjoy me as much as I would enjoy them coming around. When my son was 16, a group of boys came to my door in scream masks and dragged him out of our house and beat him so bad he was left in the driveway with his front teeth knocked out of his face. It was like a horror movie for me, everywhere I looked there were people in costume and no sign of who or why. He was an usher for a sweet 16 party the next day and had to have his teeth bonded back into his mouth before getting his tux. It was just a horrible experience and I haven't felt good about Halloween since.
When you think about it, it truly isn't a nice celebration anyway.

Absolutely not! It is based on several different holidays combined. Primarily, from Ireland, "Samhain" or, "the end of summer".It became more an American custom, after the Potato Famine in the 1800's, when many Irish people came and settled in this country. Also known as: Hallowe' en, All-Hallow- eve, All Saint's Eve, Hallow's Eve, and even Pooky Night. It originated as also connected with paganism. (*Which is where some individuals, may feel it is 'evil') Since almost all of 'our' current celebrated 'holidays' have some 'pagan' background(s). Does that mean all of our holidays are 'evil'? Look up the origins and meanings of Easter, and Christmas, to name a couple...
So, No, I don't think Halloween is 'evil', any day where families can spend time together, and do 'fun' things, cannot be 'evil'. I think the 'candy' aspect, is a little out of hand! "Treats" could be a 'little' 'healthier'... not all kids can tolerate all that sugar (*or their parents, after they've reach that sugar 'rush').

Isn't it a celebration of the dead? Isn't the puropse to celebrate evil of some sort? I guess in a way it is evil. If you ask me it has been so commercialized it's nothing but a day deticated to everyone playing dress-up either with their kids or jsut like when they were kids themselves. Whatever it is, keep it comin. I like the candy! As long as I get to send my kids out to get candy for free and bring it home so I can have some chocolate I am OK with Halloween!

Halloween is a fun holiday. There is nothing evil about it. Even in the pagan days it was a time to acknowledge your ancesters and ask for their blessings to get your family through the winter. Animals were slaughtered at this time to put up food for the winter.

because it originally came from pagan holiday??

do you say 'bless you' to someone who sneezes *because* you believe their soul escapes thru their nose everytime they sneeze?
That's the original reason people began saying 'bless you'

If you don't link the Middle Ages belief about blessing with the sneezing, then -seriously- can you link ancient pagan practices to current holidays?
