Hi Chessie, is the sum -75 or 111? (Your question says -75, but your work shows 111)

You should set up the consecutive odd integers as

x
x+2
x+4

Odd integers are TWO apart from each other, just like even integers are!

So now you add them up and set them equal to -75:

x + x+2 + x+4 = -75

3x+6 = -75

3x = -81

x = -27

So your 3 odd integers are -27, -25, -23

(If your sum is supposed to be 111, then your integers would be:

3x+6 = 111
3x = 105
x = 35
integers = 35, 37, 39)

Three consecutive odd integers are x, x=2, and x=4. If their sum equals -75, then we get:

x + x + 2 + x + 4 = -75
3x + 6 = -75
3x = -75 - 6
3x = -81
x = -27

This is one of the integers (x). To get the other two simply add 2 to get the second ( -27 + 2 = -25), and add 4 to get the last one
(-27 + 4 = -23).

The numbers are: -27, -25, -23

Hope this helps. ;-)

Notice that when you multiply any integer (odd or even) by 2 you always get an even number. Simply add 1 or any other odd integer to this in order to get an odd integer. So, use these...
2x + 1
2x + 3
2x + 5

(2x + 1) + (2x + 3) + (2x + 5) = -75
6x + 9 = -75
6x = -75 -9
x = -84/6 = -14

Your integers are
2(-14) + 1 = -27
2(-14) + 3 = -25
2(-14) + 5 = -23

to check:
(-27 ) + (-25) + (-23) = -75

The three number should be X, X+2, X+4, or X-2, X, X+2

to have odd integers u must +2 (+ even number)
example if ur odd integer is 3, x+1 is 4 so its not odd

therefore ur odd integers are x, x+2 and x+4
x + x + 2 + x + 4 = 75
3x = 75 -6
3x = 69
x = 23!

therefore the integers are 23 25 27

its x+(x+2)+(x+4), because if u take any three consecutive odd integers(example: 1,3,and 5) and say the smallest number is x, the second number will be two more(1+2=3, 1+4=5).
So,
x+x+2+x+4= -75
3x+6= -75
I think u can solve the rest from here...

Instead of x, x+1, ... use 2x+1, 2x+3, and 2x+5. (Multiplying by 2 insures an even integer and the plus one, three, five, etc. will make the integer odd)

2x+1 + 2x+3 + 2x+5 = -75
6x+9= -75
6x=-84
x=-14

2(-14)+1=-27
2(-14)+3=-25
2(-14)+5=-23

you do x+x+1+x+3=3x+4=-75. I don't know where you got 111 from. But you equal the 3x
4 to -75, to get x and then add 1 and 3 for the other numbers.
