stop smoking and being around smoke of any kind and your baby will have the rest of the trimesters to be healthy. Also after the baby dont smoke round her or him .And breast feeding helps to fight off infections ,and they dont gey colds as much.good luck.tell your spouse to get help and if they want leave till they do.Buying weed is being selfish to your child thats money he could use for something better one day.

The risk is higher for the baby to be affected if the father, or the mother...or both...have taken drugs. The doctor can help in this area though. If you know for a fact that ther father of your potential child had taken drugs, the doctor needs to know for the sake of not only your baby, but you. Because if the baby has complications, then there is a possiblity of you having complications during labor. But if the doctor is aware of the situation, there are measures than can be taken early so as to fend off any possible complications.

All illegal drugs can be harmful to fetuses, and should be avoided during pregnancy. Some of the most common illegal drugs and their side effects are listed below:

Marijuana - The research studies on marijuana effects on fetal development during pregnancy are based on animal studies and the results are conflicting. Some studies have shown that infants exposed to marijuana will have fine tremors, and irritability. What is known is that marijuana does cross into the fetal circulation and reduces the amount of oxygen available to the growing fetus.

Crack/Cocaine - Crack and cocaine have some of the most dangerous side effects for both the mother and the baby. Some complications the mother may experience include cardiovascular problems, pulmonary disease, liver damage, seizures and death. They are also at increased risk for preterm labor and delivery, and have babies with a lower birth weight. As blood pressure rises, the placenta can separate from the uterus causing fetal death and serious bleeding problems in the mother. Other effects of cocaine use include birth defects and brain damage in the baby.

Heroin - Heroin users are at high risk for malnutrition, anemia, pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure occurring in pregnancy), placental abnormalities, pre-term labor, and premature rupture of membranes. The infant will often be born addicted to heroin, and will go through withdrawal following birth. These infants are irritable, difficult to comfort, have a shrill high cry, and may have seizures.

Often, there are associated problems with alcohol and drug use, such as poor nutrition and infections, which harm the pregnancy. If someone you know is using drugs in pregnancy, she should be encouraged to seek help for her health and the health of their baby.

If the Dad is the one using, there is a chance that the drugs had an effect on the sperm quality, so it's a good idea to consult a doctor. But most risks to the baby come from the mother. If he's smoking something around you... that you can inhale, then you need to get out of there fast.... or you'll potentially harm your baby.

Generally no problems have been reported from a father using marijuana at the time of conception. Usually, it can make a man sterile while he is using, so wait to see if you are actually pregnant. Other than that, if you ARE, just let your doctor know - he can't tell anyone about it, but it is very important that he know what kinds of things your baby was exposed to.

the problem is what will he do after the baby is born... do you want him all stoked up on drugs around your infant??? he is clearly irresponsible for still doing drugs around you while you are pregnant.. ever hear of second hand smoke, or a contact high, well if he is still lighting up around you it is not only him still doing drugs... it is also you... and the chemicals will still be on his fingers that are touching you and will be touching the baby.. he needs to stop..like yesterday... babies require alot of care and druggies are not responsible enough... but there shouldn't be an addiction prob with the baby unless you are using...

previous answer said doctor cannot say anything to anyone... not true.... he is mandated to report to dept of child protective services if you test positive for any drug... period and the child will be taken from you at birth...untill you can prove to be clean,,,

He will probably be hyper active and have some problems. I mean the risks are smaller then if the mother did them but their maybe some risks. Talk to your doctor and find out the drugs that he does.

It's possible that your child could have certain dependencies, the drug of choice may have side affects not anticipated by its user, all chemicals produce effects whether positive or negative, it depend on the drugs used before and after conception, and have u possibly indulged at some point during the pregnancy with your boyfriend,no pun intended. i think of you may try this: first call: Molly center call: Kaidi then you definately the two could have what you need. yet i think of Molly could be first by way of fact people might maximum in all risk decrease to rubble spelling with Kaidi each and all the time. Take occasion my pal; her call is Jeorgia. A TON of people misspell it and it makes her mad. ~ Taylor <3
