I know what advice to give you for the guy with everything - encouragement. But an elderly couple, well, it's got to be gold so how about a gold picture frame?

See if you can find an early picture of the couple. Then, go to the mall, to Things Remembered, get the names and dates on a picture frame. Major special, and they knew you took the time to do it.

Find them something dated from the day or the week that they were married. A copy or reprint from some newspaper or a copy of one of the weekly news or entertainment magazines from 1956. Something to remind them of the world they lived in when they decided to live their lives together.
I'm heading to my hometown this weekend to host a reception with my sisters to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary. I'm happy for them, but somewhat bothered that I'm old enough to have parents who have been married that long. :-)

A platter with an engraving on it. A picture of the 2 of them when they were younger in a nice picture frame. If you are crafty cross-stitch them something & frame it.

a dozen roses, a really pretty card, and chocolate from sees all nicely wrapped. color cornate the iteams, like tie a ribbon around the roses, and have that match the chocolate box which matches the card. but make sure it doesnt clash

the fiftieth anniversary is the golden anniversary. last year was my husbands parents twenty fith anniversary which is the silver anniversary and we got them a silver plate that had thier names on it and the date of thier anniversary. it also had a little quote on it but i can't remember it.
