Problem here is different schools have different grading systems.

In high school, for me an 83 would have been a high C; in college, an 83 would have been a low B, and this is only if the 83 you mention is a percentage. In college, there was no such thing as a + or - (until I got to grad school.)

I used to work in admissions at a university, and sometimes I would need to compute GPAs the best I could, awarding 4 points for an A, 3 for a B, etc. I also had to know how many credits each class was, and then I did an average. At times we converted GPAs from 5.0 scales to the 4.0 scale we used.

So see, it can be slightly crazy. Talk with an admissions counselor in the college/university you are interested in. They should be more than happy to help out.

In the GPA scale you earn "points" for every grade you get. For instance if you get an A in a 1 unit class you get 4 points (four points times one unit). If you get a B in a two unit class you get 6 points (three points times two units). Your GPA is the average number of points you've earned per class in other words a way to determine your average grade.

Get your transcript(s) and find the total of grade points you've earned and divide it by the number of units you've taken, excluding any credit / no credit units. GPA's range between 0.0 and 4.0 An acceptable GPA is between 2.0 and 4.0. An excellent GPA is 3.5 and above (usually qualifies you for honors) . I would guess your cumulative average is based on a percentage scale but your GPA is based on an average of your grades ranging from 1 to 4 (4.0 being an A average)

A = 4.0
B= 3.0
C=2.0

An 83 is a B so you'd put down a 3.0 GPA for highschool.
What you earn in college you will find out after each semester.

what on earth are you talking about?
if you took all your high school classes and added them up, they total 83.35?
How many classes did you take?
7 per year x 4 years would be 28.
83.35/28= 2.97
I recommend you take bonehead math in college.

Ask at admissions or your academic counselor.
