I checked from my ISP and there is no outage, so I should be able to connect. What are the basic steps that I need to check?

did you get a CD when you signed up for the service?
I have verizon dsl and I put the CD in and it set up everything for me, I didn't even have to think.

Check your connections, your ethernet wires plugged into the jacks, router on, plugged into the phone jack ok? check your phone jack to see if you are getting a dial tone

first are all the lights on the modem on and blinking? is the network cable from the modem to the computer plugged in firmly and in the correct holes? when you reboot the computer does it ask you to log into the network? are you running internet explorer? if the answer is yes to all of them, then open internet explorer, click tools, internet options, connections. lan settings. uncheck anything that is checked. click ok. try your internet, not working then...

did you get a setup disk with your dsl service? did you run it?
if so, then open internet explorer, click tools, internet options, connections, and then click the setup button. this will open the install wizard. go through the installation, reboot and try it. is it working? if not then...

call the customer support number for your dsl service and let them walk you through their settings. hope this helps :)

1. Turn off your modem, router, (if you have one), and your computer.
2. Wait 1 minute and turn your modem on.
3. Wait 2 minutes and turn your router on (if you have one).
3. Wait 2 minutes and turn your computer on.

If you still cannot connect.
Check your modem and see if the DSL light is on. If the answer is yes, try rebooting your computer and it migh work.

Check your Internet light, too. If it is "Red" the you need to log in and retype the password. you usually log in by going to http://168.192.0.1.

what kind of modem do u have?

is the dsl light blinking?
