I know in 2008 we will have a new President, but I am wondering how long it will be before a Women or a Black Male/Female will be elected? I mean after 9/11 we as a nation became closer right? So when do you think the timing would be right?

I'd like to see someone that looks like me in the Oval Office soon, but it ain't happening in '08. Not just because of racism and bigotry, but because some people just don't like change.

It will probably be a while, it is unclear if a black man as VP would be an asset or liability at this point in time. A woman is a defiante lability.

Undestand, I personally don't beleive this, I think it's the menality of the country.

I actually voted for Mondale and Ferraro in 1982, unfortunately NO ONE ELSE in the country did, including Mondale and Ferraro.

If anyone remember that election Reason won 49 out of 50 states in the bigest electorial landslide in history.

At that time women amounts to 51% of America and few of them voted for a ticket with a woman VP.

It is obvious a woman on a ticket will not attract women voters.

Now, a black man could be a different story, but you will lose the Southern and Mid West white vote.

The only way I can see a black man getting over would be if the Republicans nominated someone like Orin HAtch or, as they almost did, once, Barry Goldwater

Otherwise a black man on a strong Republican ticket with a white presidental candiate could possibly get over with the Democrats were weak

One, the country united after 9/11 for a very short lived period. Two, There are too many racists and bigots to see an African American or a woman president anytime soon. Personally, I would vote for either if they were the best candidate (even if they were Democrat, or another party). Hilary Clinton is the only one who might have a shot. But if she wins, I'll be Canadian within 72 hours.

I want McCain to win the '08 election because of his great military experience that will help more than anyone else could in the current wars. But after the wars are over, I'd be happy to have any other president. But I think Obama is too young and inexperienced to lead the U.S.

Not for a while. Kerry will probably get the democrat nomination in 2008. I would be willing to bet the first black or female president would be a republican.

I think a female will soon be president. Perhaps in the next decade or so. That is a huge move for our country. I think it will be longer before a black person gets in office. IM NOT SAYING THAT IT'S RIGHT OR WRONG. It's just how I believe things will go.

I want to see a housewife elected President. Somebody that knows how to live on a budget.

No more members of Skull and Bones (aka "Boners") thank you.

More to the point though, mentally, we get a new president every day. His mind is born anew with each sunrise, just like a goose.

your premise of "after 9/11 we as a nation became closer" is flawed. That only lasted a week at best.

I believe it is still sometime off. There are still people who would not like either of the two to become president. But, we are closer than any other time in history.
