Need Country & World Maps with certain city locations; not just a detail of a city; more broadened view HELP?

Working on project where I need to find a few select cities in states, provinces, and in various countries. I have searched and searched and only get either too specific of a map or too broad. Does anyone have any ideas of where to go for example: Houston and Robstown, TX; Edmonton and Medicine Hat, Alberta; Sicily, Italy, Duitsland, Germany; Norrkoping,Sweden and so on.....w/ various other city locations in various countries. Anyone know of any way to get this type of search going??? End result will be a global map showing ALL locations.....THANKS A BUNCH!!!!

encarta.msn.com has a free geographic atlas. It is zoomable to the narrowest or widest levels within much of West Europe and North America.

You can stick custom labelled pushpins in this map, and hence produce the global map of the places you require by naming these pushpins after the place names and selecting pushpins only as your map labelling options.
