3a^6/12a^2 = a^4/4
if u dont know why here's what u do:
3a^6 / 12 a^2 = 3*a*a*a*a*a*a / 12/a/a
a*a cancel;top and bottom. 3/12 is 1/4
so a*a*a*a*/4 = a^4/4 or 0.25a^4
by the way the rule about dividing exponents is that it is minus for divide, plus for multiply; thus a simpler way of doing this will be
3a^6 / 12a^2 = a^(6-2)/4 = a^4/4
so answer is b

It would be B, but i did it in a mad unconventional way, by supposing a=4, and then solving it out like that and then testing each possible answer with the final result.
And that's probably not what you're learning if you are indeed in Algebra 1 like I think you are, but I totally bombed that class so I probably can't help you with the actual algebra. Pay attention, I'm currently struggling through Algebra II Trig, not fun my friend.
I do suppose you could cancel out the a^2, and then make the a^6 on top a^4, and then do something like divide both sides by three or something to that extent.

A
It's simple, just divide your terms:
3/12 = 1/4
a^6/a^2 = a^3 (because 6/2 = 3)
So (a^3)/4 is your answer
