The sad thing is, that while women would probably do a much better job in the office, it would not be a good idea at this moment in time. Most countries in the world do not hold any respect for women and since we are the major super power and rely mostly on our image, it would be a hard blow to us for all those countries that would suddenly lose respect for us. Yeah, it's not much better with Bush in office (sorry to say that...I am actually a republican and voted for him, but he's not very smart), but the fact is, the world is just not ready for a woman to be president of the US. Yeah, I think it would be a lot better locally, a woman would do things no man would even dream of, but our world image would change. Of course, the only two women that would even be close to running soon, I sure wouldn't want them in the seat...I mean geez, so either way, I sure hope it waits a little longer.
That's just my opinion though.

The philippines has arroyo. I see nothing out of the blue there. I don't object with it either.
The only thing i object to is how the female leader acts and changes the rule. If it is not in helping out the nation and international society, then i would object. If she helped the world get together and helped the international community then i would not object. I believe in humanity and there is way too much power being abused. Something needs to be done.

If you're suggesting we elect a woman as president soley because she's a woman, doesn't that run counter to the notion that women can be just as effective as men in positions of power? Shouldn't a woman be elected based on the merits of her platform and ability to lead? (just a tad bit of devil's advocate here)

Oh, yes.
I'm sure the Middle East would respond positively to a little something from Harry and David.
Perhaps you're too young to remember the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher? I'd follow her to the ends of the earth. THERE was a leader.

You have just set women back 200 years my dear.
Haven't you ever heard of Margaret Thatcher, or Indira Ghandi. Pakistan also had a woman President, as does Germany....a female Chancellor.
Imagine that!

What about all those other women that had too much power. They just can't handle it my friend. Cleopatra, Helen of Troy, Boudicea, Maria Theresa, Catherine the Great, Golda Mier, Elizabeth I, Margaret Thatcher, Nancy Reagan... did I miss anybody? Oh, yea, every single one of them started a war of somekind.

can u picture saddam hussein (pre iraqi war) sitting in his little office, thinking about how much he hates America, then getting a care package from President Margaret(or whoever) and its wrapped in pink paper and smells like perfume and its all glittery and when he opens it there's beautiful flowers and candy all over the inside...do u think he'll throw the box aside and squeal with delight, skipping around his office as he sings about his new-found love for America smells the lovely flowers? no....i dont think so. i dont think thats a good idea at all. i think thats kind of dumb....and vegetables dont make me happy either.

Okay, try sending Islamic terrorist a nice bouquet of flowers and some Govida chocolates, and they'll forget all about Jihad. That's really warm and fuzzy but not realistic.

Thanks for the stereotype.
I think that a woman president would be just as professional as a man president. Granted, not all male presidents are responsible or irresponsible, but not all female presidents would be responsible or irresponsible. It just depends on the individual person's priorities and values

While some countries have had women as head-of-state, America has not yet had that priviledge. I'm not altogether certain that if a woman were elected to run our country that she would do it with kid gloves.
