Get an old car! Mine keep me busy looking for parts, working on them, painting, upholstering, you name it. Maybe since you live in the mountains you could get into off-roading or motorcycles or dirtbikes?

What type of hobby are you looking for? A craft? I have many hobbies myself, and I make some money besides. I taught myself how to crochet, now I design things and sell them, or give them as gifts. I made each of my grandbabies (3) a baby blanket, all of them designed by me.
I also like to make jewelry, also self-designed. I can paint, usually on wooden items, I painted a garden scene on my closet doors, my largest project. Living in the mountains could be a great inspiration to tap into your hidden talent for painting, you are so lucky.
I do some writing as well, I keep a couple journals going. Ultimately, I'd like to someday write a book or two. Read some books, they could maybe give you some insight into what you'd like to pursue as a hobby.
If you are alone, you could play solitaire, there are several versions. If there are people around you, you could have an occasional Texas Hold 'Em party.
The list is endless.

Honey, is you live in the mountains, you have a con-glamorization of things to take up for hobbies. It really depends on what your interests are. You could fish, hunt, camp, hike, learn about mountain life, whether it is nature studies or people studies. There is horse-back riding, bird watching, horticulture. Depending on the area you live in, the mountains themselves have a tremendous wealth of history, and info. You can really learn a lot about our lives now by studying the past, and if you like that kind of stuff it makes a great hobby.

Do something that will make the world a better place for someone, i.e.
Create scrapbooks for children or the elderly that can be given to your local hospital or nursing home. Deliver them when you go into town, or better yet, mail them. Your scrap books could be pictures of your mountain, your life, your surroundings. Let them tell the story of your life as a "mountain person".

I would do something with what is around you. In the mountains you can fish, make fishing flys to sell, hiking. You can knit, crochet and donate to charities or sell your work. Quilting, woodworking of some sort...lots of stuff. Photography would be super too but might be expensive to start.

Carving? (you should have lots of supplies available within a short reach! lol)
The internet can help bring your supplies to you if there isn't any shopping available locally for you!
PayPal will help to keep your finances secure if you have any worries.
If you shop via the online auction sites, make sure that you compare prices - some auctions have GREAT prices, but some are really high.

Hiking, rock climbing, biking, llamas, anything outdoorsy. Fixing cars., travelling.
If you want to stay inside and staying warm, collecting something like rocks or knitting or quilting.
