Most likely, the static you are hearing is related to a loose or bad cable. Check your connections between the computer and the monitor for the speaker wire. If they are loose, unplug and plug in again. If this doesn't resolve it, you may need to replace the speaker cable. It's unlikely that the problem is the speakers themselves if you aren't playing loud sounds across them.

Yes after time the speakers in the monitor will start going out. Just like other hard and components will do. Stuff doesn't last forever.

Try adjusting your speaker volume on your computer by going to the Control Panel if this do not help test your speakers and if they are still fuzzy you might want to think about getting new speakers because they might be burst.

A new monitor may be expensive, but new speakers are quite cheap. You can just hook them up to the back of your computer. Best of luck!

Speakers can definatly just wear out, luckily they are pretty cheap. I'd check ebay or your local electonics store. Pretty much anything will do.
