No, it's not all that unusual to get snow this early in the year in parts of Michigan. I grew up in Southwestern Michigan and while it's not a frequent occurrence there have been times where it has snowed in early October. I can remember more than a few times trick or treating in snow pants & boots and complaining that my costume was covered by my winter coat but there was that much snow on the ground it was actually necessary. I can remember a few times of visiting the UP in late Summer and freezing my tushy off too.
Just a week or so ago my Mom said it snowed in Sturgis, MI and was blowing so much at times you couldn't see across the parking lot at her work.

No. It is not too early for snow in the Upper Peninsula, but probably a week or so early around the lake in S.W Michigan.

No I don't think so. It's all ready snowed in places like northern New England, so why not Michigan.

Yes! It's crazy! We're 10 degrees below normal here (mid-west). Thankfully we're not talking the 2 feet of snow they got in New York a few weeks back. SHEESH!

technically no, esp if you're talking about the U.P., besides they've already had snow in Buffalo, NY.
