Don't sound like you much about cars, - but there are a number of ways to stop an engine.
Take away the fuel, -take away the ignition, - take away the electricity it runs on,- stop it from breathing!
You can disconnect the battery (at idle speed), if it keeps running, unplug the two wire plug near the back of the alternator. That removes it's ability to make electricity to run the car! Of course you have to know what the alternator is!
If you can get anywhere near the carbureter, and find the fuel line (maybe it has a rubber hose connecting it), - you cold pinch hose shut so that the carbureter will run out of gas in about 3 minutes! If car is electronic fuel injection , (and computerized), - you could open the fusebox, and remove fuse to the (electric) fuel pump!
I assume it has an automatic transmission, - if standard put it in the lowest gear and let the clutch out with the brake pedal pushed down hard!
The "bad sound" is because you turned it all the way to "start" and it tried to engage the starter into the turning flywheel This is is a no-no!!! You can ruin the starter, or even the flywheel (which will then require removal of transmission to replace flywheel!!)
Last of all you could shut off the air by removing the aircleaner and plugging up the intake of the throttle body, or carbureter so no air can enter!
Maybe you can find somebody that knows enough to do ont of these things for you!

Depending on the type of vehicle...turn the key off....or, if the key is stuck on...pull the main ignition wire. Coil wire,..or if a manual trans...let the clutch out (safe distance in front of vehicle) w/o touching gas. Automatic...block the exhaust and the engine will HOPEFULLY suffocate...last chance option before you call a towtruck mam. You may try blocking the fuel supply..Find rubber fuel line and pinch it off for a bit..Maybe block air cleaner..Good luck.

I presume it is dieseling, or running on after you turn off the ignition. Turn it off in gear. Then shift into neutral. Even an automatic transmission should have enough drag to stop the engine. Once you can get it to stop running on by doing that, check tune-up specs, like plug gap and timing, run an ignition system cleaner to clear up carbon buil-up, have the fuel mixture checked, and check for proper idling speed.

Variety of ways. It depends on the type of car you have, simplest things to do.
1. Pull fuse or relay to the fuel injectors.
2. Pull the coil wire. (Use caution though, high voltage)
