In movies, the bad guy puts some stuff on a cloth and holds it over someone's mouth to make them pass out. What is the name of the "stuff"? Some one asked me earlier today, and I have been driving myself crazy trying to think of what it is called. HELP!!!

I think you mean chloroform, which is also known as trichloromethane and methyl trichloride. In the 1800's it was sometimes used as an anesthetic, until it's (occasionally fatal) toxicity was discovered.
