There is a product on the market that will remove the sticky without damaging the surface called Goo Gone. This works great and smells like orange! Without leaving any greasy or oily film!

I asked this question a while back, and the best answer I got was to use insect repellant. Like Off. Not the lotion kind though. All you do is spray some on a paper towel, give it a little bit of rubbing, and it takes the sticky stuff right off! You wouldn't think it would work, but it totally does!!! And most people have it in their homes. Give it a try!

I'm not sure what type of surface you are trying to remove adhesive from, but peanut butter usually can disolve the adhesive. Apply it and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rub it in. It will remove the adhesive. Be careful, though, that the surface won't stain from the oil in the peanut butter. If it's a washable surface, you should be okay. You can then use soap to remove the oil from the peanut butter.

WD-40 penitrating oil... It will remove the sticky and won't harm the surface but might leave a light greasy film that is easily wiped away.

There is a glue remover sold in the Wal Mart craft section.
Also try a hairdryer.
