Generally any way they could. Some with bravery and others with cowardice. Many people do not appreciate that Hitler's rise was in part due to the cruelty of the Treaty of Versailles which included prohibitive reparations and generally very much damaged Teutonic pride. With the Wall Street Crash the economy was in ruins so many people simply agreed with Hitler because he appealed to their natural Nationalism. Many people felt aggrieved about the First World War which, it could be argued, was only Kaiser Wilhelm reluctantly agreeing to Austrian demands that he fulfill his promise to protect the Germanic peoples.
Some people, therefore, worked with him. Others lived in fear and disguised themselves, pretending, for the sake of their own, and their families, lives to agree to whatever. For many it must have been an extremely difficult affair. Some worked against him and others with him. Many, seeing the future for what it was escaped, to the UK, America or anywhere else where refuge was possible. It is a very complex issue that is not easily answered. Some were lucky and some were not. Some were evil and others only did what they needed to do to stay alive by pretending to collaborate. This is what has been said of the new Pope who had been in the Luftwaffe. The British armed forces had many Poles and Czechs who fled to help fight Hitler.
Even though it is about Communism you may wish to read Solzynitzyn's "The First Circle" or Kundera's "the Joke" and "Unbearable Lightness of Being" all of which describe how people survived totalitarian regimes.

And yes, alot of people didn't but the figures are a lot more than 6m Jews. Catholics, Gypsies, Poles, Czechs etc were persecuted too. Many of those who claimed to be Jewish weren't; but better Jewish than gay. See Martin Sherman's "Bent"

The German, Polish, Austrian and many other countries and its people suffered while Hitler was rampaging across Europe. The Jewish people were his main target. Thousands did not survive. The German people was totally devastated at what this manic did. They survived by helping each other and they even helped many Jewish children and adults survive. Food was scarce and many German's ate ruhbarb leaves and died from the poison of the leaves. To this day the old German people hang their heads in shame, from what Hitler did to them and their culture.

Some were rescued by the allies. Some were hidden by concerned citizens. A lot did not. The tails of survival during that time are heroing and the tells of horror are truely depressing.

I assume you meant to type Hitler.....

A large number of people survived Nazism by conforming and joining the party, wearing the shirts and going to all the right places.

Point to ponder.......... where did all those supporters go once Hitler's death became known? All the old films show people pouring into the streets in joy, no one was a nazi anymore. They instantly changed into civilians and oppressed people.

Well, I wasn't there, thank God, or I wouldn't have...

He killed only people who would have posed any kind of challenge, including professors and attorneys...

He killed Jews after establishing a hatred of them by the German populace.

He took away their guns.

Only people allowed to live had to keep their mouths shut.

At least 6 million didn't. Those that did either fled, hid, or suffered in concentration camps until they were liberated.
