If HARRY POTTER's world does exist in our world, what would happen then? Will we become hostile or friendly toward THEM?

Let say that they somehow declare their existence right now. They wish to cooperate together with us to fight tthe common enemy together and they wish to share their knowledge with us. What would we do?

Will we accept them with open hand or such severe prejudice? Are we going to have such better civilization... or worse? What would happen to humanity as a whole then? What kind of world do you think would occur here (in our MUGGLE world) and there (in their WIZARDRY & WITCHCRAFT world)? Could science & magic just... get along?

If the Muggle world and Wizarding world suddenly chose to acknowlege the other openly then there would be some who chose to look for the opportunities that working together could bring and there would also be those who would be afraid and hostile. It would make sense for Muggles to fear wizards because of the inequality of power. Knowing about memory charms, polyjuice potion, curses, hexes, jinxes, cursed items, Horcruxes, and other negative things would terrify them. The possibilities that magic used for positive purposes would be very interesting though. Imagine cooking, cleaning, finding missing items, packing and other mundane chores being completed by magic.

There are examples in the Harry Potter books, of characters like Dumbledore, Arthur and Fred & George Weasley who think Muggles are fascinating and even admire them for some of their inventions that allow them to get along without magic (electricity, lock picking, etc.). Then on the other hand, remember how the Death Eaters feel about Muggles and how the Dursleys feel about wizards or anything to do with magic. As far as science and magic getting along, I don't know. Magic seems to fly in the face of science. For example, J.K. Rowling has said that a Muggle could not do potions even if they had all the right ingredients because at some point magical talent would be required, so scientists seeking to study it would have a difficult time there.

There would be intermarriage, which is common in the books now. The majority of the students at Howarts are neither Purebloods or Muggle-born, that means that there are a lot of families with Muggle relatives. It would cause some people to be more enlightened, like Harry, but there would also be cases like Seamus and Tom M. Riddle, who have said that their father didn't know that their mother was a witch until after they were married. Cases like Snape would be bad for Muggle-wizard relations as well. Eventually though, I think that everyone would conclude that there are Muggles and wizards that have good and bad intentions and each individual must be judged on his/her own merits, choices, and behavior.

See if the book (Where Science & Magic Meet by Serena Roney-Dougal ISBN 1-85230-446-4) is still avilable. What was once called magic is now called science as people startedfinding out why things worked such as a match that was called magic at one time. Or a magnafing glass.
Science andmagic might get along togher . but not magic and Religion talk about another war starting.

It would be great if the muggles will admit the existence of magic.Maybe the 2 worlds together can stop He Who Must Not Be Named!

What if aliens walked among us and did the same thing?
What if the Harry Poptart books are just designed to get you used to the idea of a superior race taking over the world?
Our entire world has been conditioned (except for a few isolated tribes) to live as competitors, trying to take what we want from someone else or from the planet before 'the other guy' gets it. Adding another type of human or other species would just make people compete even harder through religion, marketing, wars, and bigotry.

Well, being a witch myself, although not of the Harry Potter variety (they would probably think me a vile amateur!), I would accept them without question. Would be very cool if they were real!

that is hard but i would think that would be cool to have wizards and witches (as long as they were good) in our world. But thinking about everybody else in this world,i don't think most every one here would like that.and science is trying to prove that magic is fake but if magic came here and we tried to combine it might work or it might be another thing we are trying to prove.lets say for example:the wizards and witches are the Iraqi that we are in war with are we going to let them come in when they decide to be friends with us or are we going to shove them out?

this was a good question, but that is all i could think of for an answer.

Damn, I could only hope it really exists.
Then I'd kick Hermione's *** in school grades....

Anyhoo, getting to your answer, I think there would be utter panic and chaos if they came out. If Bush is going imperialistic in the modern world, what do you think his reaction would be to a wizard like Dumbledore showing up on the steps of the White House?

I would be accepting of them, but I would be very envious because I think it would be awesome to be able to do some of the stuff they do in the books!!!
