sounds to me like he's going through some changes, the head bobbing is normal, there are different reasons for head bobbing, it usually means he's communicating with you or he's upset and telling you he doesn't want to be bothered. I noticed people saying he's horny. The only reason I disagree is because you said he's only 5 months old. Are you sure about his age? Iguanas don't reach sexual maturity until they are 1 to 1 1/2 years old.the color changing can mean a couple of things, one is he's getting ready to shed. Shedding is a very tough time for iguanas considering it can take up to 6 weeks for the to completely shed, and if they are growing right, will begin their next shedding cycle before the last one ends. But usually they become a dull color before they do that. Another is that he's starting to get his adult colors, you said he has orange, which is a good sign that he's a male and will become very large in the next couple of years. These are very normal things for an iguana and all you can do at this point is continue to stay on a routine with him. They can go 3 to four days without eating,(I don't recommend this though). As long as his environment is healthy, he will eat. I recommend looking on iguana care sites on the internet for something that sounds like what your iguana is going through. Or order this book called "Iguanas For Dummies", it's a very good book and will tell you everything you need to know to have a happy and healthy iguana. Good luck.

Iguanas are not sexually mature until they are 2 so he is not "horny" Since there is no vet available try the 2 yahoo groups I listed below. They will all tell you to get a vet first, but several members run Iguana rescues they could have a better idea. Also visit anapsid.org, the number 1 place of information on green iguanas.

Hi there;
There is nothing wrong with your iggie, he is just showing you he is an iggie. Head bobbing is a way to say to other iggies "I am here and I rule". Orange is the normal coloration for a male common iggie.
Please remember that your critter hales from South America. Right now that continent is changing to their summer time. Spring/summer is breeding season for iggies so no doubt your iggie is now entering his rut time.
Yes, it will pass but I would be remiss if I did not give you fair warning about "iguana rage". This sometimes occurs with male iggies when they espy anything moving, large, and green. I am not joking. People have been attacked by their pets, as well has having other objects in their homes which are green or orange attacked by the "dominating" iggy. Have some caution when handling or in contact with your iggy at this time until it passes.
See.... poop bombs are not the only lovely attribute iggies have ;)

He is horny! The yellowish-orange colour develops when they become sexually mature. The head-bobbing and dewlap display are sexual displays meant to show you how incredibly macho and virile he is. This is normal behaviour in a mature male iguana. He should settle down in a couple of days once the novelty wears off.
