If the man is a self-proclaimed religious person, you might be trying to get the smell of hypocrisy off your hand. If the religious man was genuine, then blame the Pontius Pilate syndrome: 'I had nothing to do with it.'
Religion is the opium of the people.
Physically, possibly. Mentally, maybe. Men do get like their mothers. (Source comes under my personal 'offical secrets act'.
USA - Barbarism to decadence and then back to barbarism in less than 400 years.
If God made a mistake, it was giving man freedom of choice. But we should all learn from our mistakes
No! Often heard, 'It's only being miserable that keeps him/her happy' The state of happiness is spiritual. Finding joy in the face of adversity.
Religious rules were often used to explain certain well-founded, but difficult to explain, health rules. Like not eating the flesh of pigs, which were infested with tape worm. Not drinking alcohol, which dehydrates and is therefore not a good idea in desert conditions, (not a Muslim idea, first appears in the Songs of Solomom). Circumcision - (uncircumsiced males might want to consider the effect of sand under the foreskin). Religious belief entails having faith in something which cannot be rationally explained - like the scientists who adhere to the 'big bang' theory, without asking where the 'big bang' came from.
Silence is golden. However, only a fool does not stand up and acknowledge what he believes to be the correct path.
No man can stand up and say, in all honesty, that he has never told a lie. Even George Washington with his cherry tree.
Blair and Bush. Blair says he doesn't read books and Bush - draw your own conclusions.
Even in Law ignorance is no excuse. Knowledge gives a person confidence. Success is relevant. Material success is one thing, but the rewards of being able to support, through acquired knowledge, your personal attitude to life and your convictions are immeasurable.
To your own self be true. The hardest thing to achieve. Choose your course through life, but be aware of and receptive to changes. Do not compromise yourself in areas which you feel are paramount.
Glad I've got that off my chest. Next time, could you put your questions separately? (Or at least number them!)

going to go down the list with my answers, all questions have a skewed view on life, it's very pesimistic, slant enlightenment, and a dirty honesty which I enjoy myself.
1. Depends the religous man, some are good, some you really do want to wash your hands, don't ever assume you know someone by the label you gave them.
2. I would add ignorance, that statement is rideing high on it, but there is a truth to it none the less. They forgot that rage and fear act like a narcotic too, some people just got to have there fix.
3. There was a civilazation in between, but that was killed off. Not all the history books cover all the small details.
4. Don't ever assume you know anything about god, if you can't see the future don't act like you can. Then again, that dirty truth shows up, you can see the logic in there.
5. You can be happy by helping others. This one is very slanted, technically you can be happy thinking about hurting others, but you can feel happy about helping others too, just depends the person and understanding of not everyone is the same.
6. Religion is the kids book to the universe, so when doctor seus is used as law expect to eat green eggs and ham sam I am. Not all religions are the same, there are a couple that use logic.
7. Honesty and the will to be honest gave birth to truth with reason as it's nurse, silence just keeps it calm like a dangleing toy.
8. Depends the friend, depends on your self, technically you get sick of a person unless there a real good friend. Technicalities will get to you.
9. Depends the fool. How do you listen without being silent for a moment. You don't have to be silent your entire life, you just need some quiet time to listen to things that need listening.
10. Only in everyone else's mind. A person can be honestly truthful there whole life, call himself a liar and be lieing about being a liar.
11. Untill the person decides to read.
12. Untill you come to a proving point, not everyone can wing it with ignorance and confidence alone. This is one of those pre enlightenment quotes. You need charisma as well as being influential to get everyone else to do things for you. Only then can you claim a sure success.
13. If your not thinking about comfort and your already confortable, how do you aprove of your comfort?

Alright, let me take a stab at this...
I dont wash my hands when i come in contact with myself. In other words, I am religious. (But I DONT shove the Bible down people's throats)
I see no relation.
Um...I'll add to this by saying all women have OCD...all men need it.
I agree.
I think that men underestimated God as thier Creator.
True joy comes from God alone.
Most religions are. Chrisianity, however, is NOT a religion...it's a lifestyle. Therefore, how can it simply be a crutch when my entire life is based on it?
Silence is the mother of truth, silence is the virtue of fools...if I understand this correctly, you are saying that only fools are honest? I would have to agree. I am one of those fools.
I would have to disagree. Spend as much time with friends as possible. Value the little time you have to spend together. And get involved in each other's lives...that is true brotherly love; that is true friendship
Hm...taking from what was said two paragraphs above, does this mean the man who acknowledges himself a liar, as all men are, then he is the most foolish of all? How does wisdom come from lying?
True, but at least the choice is still open to the one who can read.
I would have to disagree with that one. All that one needs is faith, whatever it may be: in God, in oneself, or in nothing at all (in that case one may be called unsuccessful)
I disagree here as well...we strive more for others' approval than we do our own. When we recieve approval and attention, we are satisfied, if only momentarily, and we feel comfortable because of it.
Thanks! This was fun!

I am going to answer a couple of your questions.
Silence is not the mother of truth. Silence is what the weak do instead of standing up for themselves and the right to be treated like human beings. Silence is what results when good people do nothing and allow others to pay the price.
I would agree with Silence is the virtue of fools.
I do not agree with your statement about happiness. Only a person that is unhappy with themselves can get pleasure from the misery of others.

The creator gave humanity the knowledge of the material gifts of life: tools to hunt and forage, clothes for warmth and expression, shelter for the elements and the gathering together. Thus was given all that was necessary for survival...

In general, the set of statements you have collected here are mindless rubbish. However, I have a couple of comments:
Religion = A crutch for those who aren't strong enough to have an opinion of their own.
Fear = The cause of most (if not all) problems in the world.
Silence = Absence of noise
Ignorance = The fool's way of dealing with life. No success will ever come from ignorance.

You sound like a mixed-up-kid. Forget religion and believe in yourself. Have confidence in your actions and always work things out in your mind before doing anything. If you go through life doubting yourself then you are living a lie. Come to terms with yourself and be happy. Ignore opinions against you.

It is easy enough to put down a list of pithy "words of wisdom", but without any analysis of underlying logic or meaning they are nothing but a series of slogans.

I think you've got some good stuff; here's one to add to
your little list: "He who aims for nothing in life, hits
