I replaced the gas cap 2 weeks ago and the light is still on, can anyone tell me what is all involved with the evaporative emission control system, also before i changed the gas cap 2 weeks ago when i took it to the e-check station everything passed, even the gas cap, the check engine light was reset so they couldnt read the computer so they just did a run on the car and everything passed,

A gas cap that doesen`t seal will set this code, but so Will any sort of pressure loss in the gas tank or related components that have to do with preventing vapors from escaping to atmosphere. The best thing to do is to have a dealer run a smoke test on the evap control system,to exactly pinpoint leak.

That code deals with any sort of a problem in the "Evaporative Emissions System". And usually a gas cap night tight enough or worn out is the likely fix. AND if it is that, the light may not shut off for 2-3 weeks after you tighten it enough to hear "3 clicks" or after it is replaced and tightened that tight.

HOWEVER there are similar causes of that code. 1 is a bad vent solenoid or valve, 2 a bad purge valve or solenoid or 3 a bad OBD computer on that car.

It is actually possible that the gas cap isn't making a tight seal and could cause the light to go on. Not sure what your code means...When I had the same problem in a Mazda B3000 pickup, we disconnected the battery and let it sit for a few minutes. We reattached the battery and the code reset itself...no more check engine light.
Good Luck!

YOU WILLHAVE TO CHECK THE SMALL LINES FROM TANK TO MOTOR. THEY WILL BE ALONG SIDE FUEL LINES. AT TANK,CANISTER,AND MOTOR THERE WILL BE RUBBER LINES. CHECK THESE.
