As long as it's not bearing any weight (of the roof) for example. You may have to strengthen the roof truss before you do, though.

You can remove anything if you do the proper research.I suggest seeing someone at your local lumber store, they usually have competent people to help with this type of thing. It is all about the substructure and the makeup of it.Different structures do different things.Without knowing what type of garage roof you have ,I would have to guess it is a gable roof being in the shape of two sides slanting downward at the same angle with two opposite ends that are straight up with the outer sides. This type of roof if it has a center brace from the lower crossover board to the very center of the peak probably would mean that you will need to buy a new or some new cross over braces that are thicker and probably taller than what you currently have, again it depends on the situation. If it has two braces on each of these sections or joist if you will, that are offset from the center in equal distances from the center you may be able to remove at no additional effort or cost. If it is a hip roof, meaning it has four equal sides that extend up to a point in the center, being the highest point, then you can most likely remove the brace with no additional effort or materials.Again, please talk to a professional, call in a carpenter for a quote or carpenter's and ask question's.Doesn't mean you have to get the job done, may be too much money or may want to just do it yourself. If it's a flat roof, this could be more dificult but is still doable, probably would require a metal beam which are not that much more than wood if you shop around. Hope this helps. Gator

First you need to know if the "pole" is load bearing, that is that it is part of the structure. If not you can. More than likely it is and a carpenter would need to make the structural changes so the garage wouldn't collapse.

Odds are that that pole is a load bearing pole, and I would SERIOUSLY WARN AGAINST REMOVING THAT POLE, if you'd like to still have a garage, and a car within it. God Bless you.

You can probably re-position it. You need to get a qualified builder in to assist you with this. He/she will know where to move the pole and if additional beams are needed to continue supporting the structure.

I would consult a professional. They will make sure it's not load bearing or serving some other important purpose. but remember. people usually don;t put poles around places unless it's for something :)

Depends.......have an experienced builder or archetech look at the pole and what it is holding up.......after their recommendations you might be able to move the pole if you provide another solution for whatever its holding up

NO!!! They wouldn't have placeit there if it wasn't load bearing. You might be able to move it over a few inches, but still taking a chance.

Sure. You just have to replace it with a beam. A carpenter should be able to do it.

replace it with a laminated beam to carry the load of the roof.
