I keep having pains there right after I eat mainly and in the upper center of my stomach, where my ribs come together at the top. Any suggestions on what is causing this?

i would think that it's an ulcer or a gall bladder problem.
go see a doctor. you may need tests done to figre it out. try rolands or tums or plain milk and bread.

It sounds like acid-reflux or "heart-burn", just indigestion or stomach acid trying to come up but stopped there. That could be caused by a bacteria or virus or simply by dysfunctional food-combinations (like protein and starches together), or chemicals or ingredients in some foods your stomach doesn't like (even though your tongue and your mind like that food).

You could try total change in the kinds of things you eat for 2 weeks, and see if you still have "pains" , MAYBE its caused by the foods that you eat. For example, If you eat deep-fried foods, like chips / "fries", or deep fried chicken, and anything greesy, avoid it totally for two weeks, eat something totally different, like, I don't know, tuna subs, and such things that are non-greesy. Whatever it is you eat, try avoiding it, and eat something else for a couple weeks and see if the pain is gone or if it persists. It may help you self-diagnose what or where the problem may be. Keep brief notes of results you can tell the doctor if you see a Dr. later.

Also, just in case, if you consume any things that spur on ulcers, switch to something else, instead of coffee every time, have tea instead, or milk or gatorade or water.

Good luck and take care !

It sounds like the gallbladder...if it happens after you eat fatty foods, it could be that...maybe indigestion. You should go see the doctor because it might be a number of things, if it keeps happening, you should go. Good luck
