May I ask, is there any particular reason you are looking to move backwards - keep in mind IE7 is set to be released any day now with Windows update (or has it already come - I've been using Vista which has it as default for over 6mths now).

I'll say this. I personally don't believe there is any virtue in going backwards given that MS has FINALLY released a relatively decent browser (and far more secure) - you'll also find that in the very near future going backwrds may well cut you off from Windows Update (which is IE dependent anyhow) so be careful.

Look - you will see a few pages playing up from time to time, esp those pagers that were particularly designed for IE6. IE6 was also fairly intuitive, meaning it often re-interoperated poorly written pages..the very same reason some pages have long played up in alternate browsers. What will happen over the next few months however is that these pages will finally have to ake the move toward standards compliance - they risk dramatic loss in business otherwise.

My advice - keep IE7, but also get yourself a secondary browser (either Opera or Firefox). If everyone moved backwards, then the pages which are currently showing their flaws will NEVER get their act together - which is bad for all of us.

Here are the instructions. I hope that they work for you.

Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 and restore Internet Explorer 6 when using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
3. You might have to CHECK the box that says SHOW UPDATES
4. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Run, type
%windir%\ ie7beta3\ spuninst\ spuninst.exe.
(I added spaces after the \ so it would show here)
and then press ENTER.

For more information, check this page at the Microsoft website. http://msdn.microsoft.com/ie/releasenotes/

If you have further trouble, you might try the RESTORE thing in the System Tools folder and go back a few days before you made this terrible mistake.

Good luck

Just uninstall IE 7 and Windows will automatically roll back to the original IE 6.0. It's perfectly safe.
