Barbary Coast is a smaller hotel with very nice rooms, and it's as central strip as you can get>corner of Las Vegas Blvd & Flamingo...If, you want to spend a little more, try Paris, ask for a room overlooking the fountains of Bellagio..
This is a great site for Las Vegas info...http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com
my choices in order
1-Barbary Coast
2-Paris
3-Aladdin
4-Mirage
5-Treasure Island
6-Bally's
7-Flamingo
8-Harrah's
I would check each out to make sure they have the amenities you want...One of the best travel sites for LV hotel rooms is http://www.travelworm.com you might check it against the travel site provided on the LVA site(above) they are two of the very best and you never know when one might have a special on the room you are interested in...If you don't already have a time slot selected to go the cheapest time to go to Las Vegas is after the NFR up until Chrismas weekend - This year that would be December 10th until the 22nd - great rooms at great prices - Another time to grab rooms at a bargain is the week following Memorial weekend...

Rooms can be moderate or insanely expensive depending on the date. If the hotel is hosting a convention, if the date is a popular one (e.g. New Years Eve), or if it's a weekend, you can pay up to 8 times or more of the cheapest rate. (A $50 room will turn into a $500 room on New Years Eve).
So, "moderately priced" can be found by asking the hotels what days are the best prices.

Flamingo is nice and moderately priced. If you go further north the Stratosphere is cheap. You can also get rooms at MGM for semi reasonable prices. I do make one HUGE recommendation.
Do not think you can walk the whole strip. It doesnt seem that far but it is and then when you get to the end you have to walk back and normally you have had a few drinks and blah blah. Rent a car or take the Bus

The Orleans has more advantageous rooms and is an fairly solid fee for the money. notwithstanding it isn't walking distance to the Strip until eventually you consider a million.5 miles walking distance. yet they do furnish Strip commute service. regularly i might want to say evaluate the business enterprise inns like the LV Hilton on Paradise, yet throughout CES those will be Slammed. once you've a vehicle you would possibly want to opt to guage getting even extra out like eco-friendly Valley Ranch hotel in Henderson or the pink Rock in Summerlin. Lake Las Vegas also has some very impressive hotels.... notwithstanding it truly is a lengthy longchronic in. throughout CES it is amazingly not basic to locate a deal on something interior of reach. perhaps you ought to guage the Golden Nugget downtown too. however you do once you comprehend for particular you're coming for CES e book early!

Imperial Palace but better off not on Strip. No need to be in the middle of the maelstrom.

Depends on "when". Midweek is always cheap. I recommend Mirage, Paris and Monte Carlo - all inexpensive, clean and centrally located.

Flamingo, excellent. Worth every penny. Excellent pool, if it's warm outside. VERY much in the center of everything! Have fun. ALL the major hotels are excellent. ALL of them...go to expedia.com and pick a package tour, and get best deals.
