Y! Stocks is sending a text message to my cell phone about a stock I no longer own. How do I get it to quit?

Did you sign up for the service in the first place? If you did, go back to the same web site and take the ticker symbol off he list.

If you didn't, it is probably the previous owner of the phone number who did. Write the provide and ask them to remove it for you.

At the mean time delete those messages without opening them, so you don't get charged.
