Capitalism and free trade have done more to raise the standard of living world-wide than any other system. The largest problem with it is the wealth is spread very assymetrically.

Socialism only works in very small countries that can take advantage of exports to larger, capitalistic countries. Sweden is the world's best example, although they have been dismantling a lot of their socialist system as it has proved too expensive to be sustainable.

Communism has always been a failure. It lacks efficiency, price discovery, and resource allocation. It instead depends on bureaucratic and political favoritism.

The old adage goes "capitalism spreads the wealth unevenly. Communism spreads the misery equally."

Personally I don't think a pure form of any of these will work. a system need to be variable. Communism is a political component, so you would have to add Democracy to it. The common working fella represents most of the people on Earth. He needs Capitalism to provide a means of obtaining a job and getting money to survive. However, he needs control over the richer Capitalists in order to maintain safe working conditions and to keep them from making a slave out of him....

I think Communist Russia failed, not because of the Communist aspect, but because it also had complete socialism and gave no motivation for people to strive to become educated or work harder. People still need to be cared for when they are not productive, but there also needs to be fair constraints to prevent them from being a drag on the rest of society.

I don't know of a successful Communist/capitalist country, but the USA is very slowly becoming less Democratic because the citizens do not vote on laws directly...they elect others to make decisions for them..as this evolves, the separate parties will more closely resemble one another until the difference is moot.

The evidence is clear, the average standard of living is much higher for regulated Capitalistic economies. Even China is heading that way as quickly as possible.

Communism and socialism looks great on paper, until you realize that it requires human behavior to be suppressed. In addition, there is no management system invented that can even keep GM organized, much less the economy of an entire country.

If you want further evidence, compare economies of free economies (USA, Canada, Britain, etc etc) with socialistic countries (France, Sweden, Norway, etc) with the remaining Communistic countries (North Korea, Cuba, Albania).

Theoretically, communism is the best. The government will basically control all facets of the economy, thereby ensuring equality for everyone in the society without having other people become richer than another. The only problem is that in reality, that is never the case. Almost always, that the people in power are coorupt and only looking to pursue their own personal interests, rather than the good of the people.

Capitalism. It's based upon freedom. This really should not have to be asked in the United States, but of course we have liberals who are Socialists/Communists and they think it's great. That's why we're in such danger.

Get off of this board, you liberal Communists! Look at them - openly confessing to their anti-Americanism!

Go and live someplace else if you don't like our system! Communism and Socialisn don't work. Never have, never will!
