It is true that slavery contributed to the development of the North a great deal until a few years before the American Revolution. About the same time that Britain outlawed chattel slavery of black Africans (after the Crown made its fortune from the slave trade and financed the Industrial Revolution that way) the Northern states also outlawed slavery.

During the civil war, slavery was legal in 4 states below the Mason-Dixon line that were loyal to the Union. However, Lincoln introduced legislation to compensate slaveowners for their slaves and bought the freedom of all slaves not in the Confederacy after the Emancipation Proclamation. This ended slavery in the United States of America.

Many black people came to the US Northern states directly from Africa on ships as free people. These were called 'Yankee blacks' and were never involved in slavery at all. My own family came to Philadelphia in the 1690s and was never enslaved; I still have up to sixth cousins on both sides living in that city. The Quakers, Amish and others common to that area were entirely tolerant and never gave my family any problem at all.

Yes, it's true. In fact, Robert E. Lee did not own slaves, but Ulyses S. Grant did. Grant had to get rid of his slaves before he could become leader of the Union Army. Contrary to popular belief, the Civil War was not about slavery. It was about states rights. The Constitution says that anything not delegated to the federal government by the Constitution is left up to the states. This means that slavery, commerce, schools, and religious issues are under the pervue of the states.

Phil Hughes is my popular and additionally the only i've got faith would be maximum powerful. Ian Kennedy is the main polished of the three getting into this season, he does strike a twine in me of a youthful Mike Mussina yet with a lots greater effective fastball. yet i've got faith he often is the third superb from the bunch, yet in spite of this third superb would be getting very almost 20 wins according to season and can have an era around 3.25 to 3.50. And Joba, the particular one, he ought to be left interior the bullpen so he ought to prevail the excellent closer interior the background of baseball, Mariano Rivera. he would be #2 basically via fact Hughes often is the ace of the staff for years. yet #2 is going to get you 40 plus saves and an era around 2.00 and nicely over 9 strikeouts according to inning. Any way you place it if those men grow to be 0.5 what they're think to the Yankees would be spending quite some money on those 3 men for destiny years and we will see quite some #31, #sixty two and #sixty 5 jerseys in new Yankee Stadium.

yes they had them until the civil war when Lincoln set the bill to law and then they had to free them. Then the slaves from the south ran for the 'border'-the mississippi river.

BUT where did they get the slaves? From the african government selling people captured from tribes. So also blame them for slavery.

Slaves have been part of human culture since the days of Genesis. Every culture has them, or has had them.
Slaves, endentured servants, servants, "help", and even employees are part of the overall picture.

Benevolence or malevolence seems to make the difference as to whether or not it is acceptible.

Some did before, but not after the state was declared free. They did have indentured servants which was similar to slavery, but only lasted for7 or 9 years depending on the situation.
