im guessing your trying to decide which wheels/tires to modify your car with. ??? here are some things to consider. a 15 with a low profile or a 16 with a low profile will handle near the same. 15" is 1/2" closer to the ground and 16" has more surface area in contact with the road. money is almost always an issue and i havent checked lately, but a couple years ago, 15" low profiles were cheaper than 16". now...lets go the other way, big off road tires. for the same size diameter tire, the 15" will give you more sidewall flex, this will give you more traction with lower tire pressure. also, 15" are cheaper. whatever you do, if youre wanting a smaller rim size, make sure it will clear the brake caliper.

Well there are numerous differences. One is of course the 15's wont fit on 16's and so forth. One may work better on some cars and others may not. On my car I can run a 17" with a thin height (low profile) tire for better handling when stocks are these big ugly bulkly ones which can buckle under going around curves at high speed.

the difference is that your tire is 1 inch bigger and you need to match it with wheels too you cannot put a 16 inch tire on a 15 or the other way around

16 inches are bigger than 15 inches... it's all about the look... unless the 16" are wider...
