The word "this" is not a 'pronoun' no matter how you use it in a sentence. 'Pronouns' are words such as: he, she, him, her, proper names, actual names of places or things. 'This' would be considered a 'noun'.

Can be used as a pronoun or an adjective.
This is my book.---used as a pronoun
This book is mine.---used as an adjective, because it defines which book.

yea a pronoun is: he,it, she, they, this etc. It basically substitutes for a noun.
