1.) England attacked us.
2.) They burned our capital city to the ground
3.) For years prior they were kidnapping or sailors (merchant marine and military) and cargoes on the high seas
4.) They had not figured out that their a$ $ got kicked the first time.
5.) We kicked their a$ $ a second time

So from our standpoint, we were defending our country and constitution. From their standpoint they were being arrogant retards who felt that they still owned us.

Self-defense is ALWAYS justified.....

One of the biggest reasons that the war of 1812 was fought is because the British Navy kept impressing seamen off all ships in the Alantic Ocean. They did not care if they were American or Swiss but if they spoke English they must be English Citizens! The U.S. protested and the British ignored them.

I can't say that it was. Great Brittain, locked in a life and death struggle with Napoleon had little affection for the United States.
