Med-schools like to see diversity. So, if you want to get into one, but don't have much of a desire to major in any of the natural sciences, major in something you like, and be sure to take the required classes to get accepted. Don't forget you can always minor in a natural science too though. I know a guy who is in med-school right now, majored in Computer Science, but took all the required science classes and scored well on his MCAT. Do what interests you because it's a lot of time, work, and energy, especially if you don't like what you're doing.

I'm not sure how much more or less medical school is for pediatricians, but I've been told that getting into veterinary medicine school is VERY tough. So this is what my counselor told me:
When they say major in something you like, they are very right. What med schools are looking for is a well-rounded and intelligent person. So major in something you think you will do well in or something that will help you after you become a doctor. For example, a friend of mine majored in English, but she minored in Biology so she could get in her required classes for med school, just incase she decided to go. During her undergrad years, she wasn't sure he wanted to be a docter, so that's why she choose English. Then then got her masters in Business because she planned on running her own practice. She did well in both undergrad and grad school and was accepted to med school.
So in a nutshell, find out the requirements for the med schools (most likely you will be applying to a bunch of them), and make sure you get those in. Then, basically you are free to major in whatever you wish. Or, just take the easy route and go into a pre-professional, chemistry, or biology program.

Getting into med school is extremely competitive, and as a result, they are looking for people with different backgrounds, so not just biology majors anymore. Most colleges have a pre-med "program" (not necessarily a major, just people who can help you negotiate the whole process) to help you take the right courses and prepare for the exams (MCAT). You don't have to major in the sciences, but by the time you've taken all the courses you need just to get into med school, you might as well major in the sciences!
I agree with the advise to "major in something you like".

You don't have to major in Biology. I knew a guy who was a business major that was applying to med school. However, a lot of people find that they have to take so many classes in the sciences that sometimes it makes sense to just major in that field. Most schools have pre-law and pre-med advisers or sessions where they talk about what classes to take, etc.
The best thing for you to do would be to apply to a school with a variety of good programs, including the sciences. For years and almost all the way through high school, I wanted to be a genetic doctor or a biomedical engineer. I applied to tech schools, schools with good premed programs, etc. And I ended up being a Political Science/English major and am now in law school.

Usually students who want to go to pre-med major in science because most science degrees fulfill all of the requirements of getting into medical schools. However, I have read plenty of websites that say schools don't favor one major over another (as long as you fulfill all of the requirements of course). So whether you are a chem, bio, biochem, etc major your chances are just as good as anyone else's. Make sure to make yourself stand out however as far as extracurriculars, teacher recommendations, hospital-related experience and grades are concerned. I would strongly recommend minoring in a foreign language like spanish though because med-schools like that kinda thing (look it up). Good luck!

Plenty of colleges have a special "pre-med" major. Check your college catalog.
