Gotta have a video card and an OS that allow 2 monitors.

Your current video card might allow a second card, but if it's integrated into the motherboard it will probably be disabled when you insert the new card.

Windows XP handles 2 monitors very well.

You need to buy a so-called "dual video card" - a graphics adapter that will allow you to use two screens simultaneously - i.e. the Windows desktop will encompass both screens.

Make sure you know what kind of bus your motherboard support (eg. AGP 2x 4x 8x or PCI etc)...
