tracing paper... good answer.

half silvered mirror... look at letters and paper at same time

video camera and projector ...expensive but cool (opaque projector same idea but cheaper)

a PANTOGRAPH added advantage, you can change sizes as you trace.

put tracing paper on top of the letters
