As people age their metabolism slows and they put on weight naturally. William Shatner is a busy man but he does stay reasonably fit by riding the horses at his ranch.
"Scotty" couldn't beam him up now at any rate, considering that James Doohan passed away a few months ago.

He's getting old...he's just letting himself go. Scottie is dead and there are rumors about Matt Damon taking his place as James T. Kirk in the next Star Trek film.

Wow. Try to be a little more hateful. When you get older your metabolism slows and you learn what is important to you. He's always been a tad on the "sturdy" side. By the way - he's still working in entertainment - what do you do? Besides being mean spirited.

He's never been thin even on Star Trek, he was never a skinny guy.
But so what?
He's an active person. And he's never stopped acting since the sixties. Weight hasn't kept him from his acting career.

I personally don't really care for the guy, but what do you have against fat people on television? I'd rather see someone not skinny enough to see thru (or their bones) on t.v.
