I've heard that other people from other countries have been to told to make sure they sure shower and put deotorant on when they come here. I put deotorant on everyday sometimes twice a day. Are we too excessive with it?

No, I think everyone should have a good smell to them. But you are right, in other countries, I hear from people that have been to Europe and other places, that people do not wear deodorant, and that they do stink a bit. But if there are used to that who are we to judge, if we don't like it don't visit there.
For me showers, soap and deodorant are of the most importance.

LOL awesome question. I wonder if it's because in other places like Europe & Asia, people just have a different outlook on personal space. They seem to be more relaxed about sharing space w/ other people, hence they're used to each others', uh, aroma. haha

In the U.S. personal space is extremely important, and the last thing we want to smell is another person's funk! If we do we freak out about it. It's kind of funny.

I lived in Britain many years ago and one of my neighbours got up the courage to ask if we Americans really did have a such a great fear of germs that we found it necessary to bathe at least once a day. I said, "Not at all! We have to shower so that we aren't sitting in our germs!"

It did freak me out to see bees walking on buns at the baker's shop.

Some people are...especially females. Most of us don't want to go around smelling like a trash dump or dead flesh. Maybe people from other countries don't have enough resources or money to take care of their hygiene like Americans do.

No I don't think we are excessive. We acknowledge and are conscious of body odor and we prevent it. Some cultures don't care.
