We would like to honor our loved ones in a way that will be a celebration of their lives. We have lost many family members over the years and would like to remember them with joy, instead of sadness. We're having a Samhain festival at the end of October and beginning of November and I thought this would be something everyone could participate in. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I don't celebrate the dead. But life. This fall season should be a time to enjoy the harvest.
I think Mexicans celebrate the dead.
I remember my loved ones, who are gone by the good memories, that are forever in my heart.

Everyone should bring pictures and other objects that remind them of their passed loved ones and place them on the altar and decorate it with fruit, flowers, etc.
We have a "torch" (read candle) procession in honor of Persephone's descent into the underworld (Where Hecate holds the torch to light her way).
We read the names of our loved ones, and heros who had died the previous year and pray to the Psychopomps (who they are depend on your tradition) to guide them safely.

We're having a festival too, more info at http://www.motorcitypagans.net

Go visit the graves of those who have passed on, clean the tombstones and bring some offerings that they would have enjoyed. It's a nice way of saying that you haven't forgotten them.
