It says in The Order of the Pheonix that you can only see thestrals if you have witnessed a death. After Harry sees Cedric die in the graveyard it talks about the horseless carriages when they are leaving the school. If Harry saw Cedric die, then why didn't he see the thestrals then?

I think when Harry's parents died he was too young to realize he was witnessing a death, he didn't know what was happening. I've never heard anthing about a death having to sink in. I'm not saying that anyone is wrong but those are my opinions and I just never heard that.

I think you're right. Harry has actually witnessed death right from the time when his parents died. He ought to have been able to see the threastrals all the time. I think she bungled it, you're right.

I noticed that too, I just chose to believe he didn't see them then 'cause he was in shock.
