I think the more important question to ask is not what do you know to be true, but HOW do you know something is true. (For instance, how do you know you're being deceived?) That's where having a rational mind comes into play. Using the rules of logic, evidence, and scientific methodology, it should be possible to get the most accurate--if not totally accurate--picture of the world around you.

Then again, maybe I'm really one of the deceivers who is just telling you this in order to make your thoughts and decision-making more predictable. Of course, that assumes that there is some reason why some mysterious uber-force would _want_ to deceive you. Any force powerful enough to deceive you so completely, would also be powerful enough not to have any interest in you in the first place.

Common knowaladge passed through generations. We studied Dedcarte, but I'm not sure I believe with his thoughts. Had humans been brought up believing that the sky was something else, and looking up was something else, then every time someone tilted their head they would not be consitered to be looking at the sky, but rather something else.

evolution gave us senses. but these senses are the invention of our species to give us an advantage in survival, they are not all knowing tools, they are just the best evolution could come up with...blue maybe really isn't blue and water might not really feel wet. sure, you and i could look at a tree and it would certainly be a tree, but what is a tree.

What you know my dear is that you have a CHOICE. You may accept the deception or reject it. If it were I, my choice would be based on the written word of God.

Logic trumps philosophy. I think, therefore, I am.
