Congratulations! I had back labor with my first. It is not the same feeling as back pain in late pregnancy. Back ache is totally normal. Think of the weight out front. How could you not be adding to the workload of your poor back? Back labor is much more intense and usually starts later in the actual labor. It can be helped with counter pressure, such as your coach's balled fist against your back. You would not believe how hard he/she can press and you still say "harder". But this, as with any pain, will be easier to handle if you do the breathing exericises and relaxation techniques. For regular backache and backlabor, getting off your back often helps. Go on your hands and knees or lean forward against a rail or back of chair etc. Just get some of the wieght off your back. Get some massage oil and make sure coach knows how to use it. Good luck with labor and with baby. Keep in mind, that even if labor is long and hard, you get a whole new person to love. Which is sure more than you get working some jobs or going through some illnesses. All the best.

I had back labor and it is quite painful. Unlike regular labor, where you can kind of press on your belly, you really can alleviate back labor. Mine however didn't start before I actually went into labor, so you may just be feeling your baby's head pressing against your cocyx (sp?). The tennis ball didn't work, getting up on all fours didn't work, having warm water on my back, heat/ice and other forms of firm pressure really didn't work. The only thing that did was my epidural. Time your contractions and call your doctor. Tell him you're in a lot pain and he may be able to help out.
Good luck.

From my experience with back labor, it hurts so bad that it feels like a full grown marine is trying to kick his way out of your back. I did not have any contractions that i could feel in my abdomen. It was all in my back. I kept calling the ob office and they wouldn't let me come in to be seen because back pain is normal when you are pregnant. So I went to th ER. And guess what. I was 7 cm dilated! So I guess my advise would be to go with your own instinct. Best of luck to you and your baby!

With either one of my pregnancies, I did not think some thing like exertions "pains" - it felt extra just like the epidermis and muscular tissues of my belly grew to be very tight, close to like a muscle spasm. My moment being pregnant was once with twins, so my belly were feeling tight like that for the final 6-eight weeks earlier than I introduced - I did not even understand I was once in exertions till my physician advised my I was once at my traditionally scheduled seek advice from!! My water did not holiday till the physician pierced the membranes herself (each instances), and the "contractions," similar to they had been, did not even relatively harm till I was once dialated to a 6 or 7. Then they harm with a vengeance!! Bottom line, I wager, is that each person's enjoy is just a little distinctive. Hope this is helping!

My labour consisted of a lot of lower back pain as well as very strong contractions in the stomach, it is very uncomfortable and heat be it from waterbottles or shower or bath works well. Nothing makes the pain easier than knowing that all this is for a purpose - it will be very HARD work giving birth but when you hold your child it is all worth it! Pure magic! Congratulations!

I didn't really get them either, but I suggest going to see your doctor, it could be the start of the real thing.
