my girlfriend and i have had it with inviting friends over for dinner or drinks....especially couples..where we r bombarded with salvo after salvo of me,me,me us,us,us of theirr petty bullshit life...i wish theyd shut the **** up...we never get in a word edge wise until i crank up some ac/dc and go in the other room....or we hafta listen to problem after problem....im ready to shut this unwanted therapy session down....am i wrong

Invite them again and let them have it. Have a drink and tell them what is on your mind. If they are your true friends- they will understand and shut the **** up. If they will not - they where not your friends to begin with , you will get rid of them at the same time! BUT FIRST talk to your girlfriend about it.
Why waste time. there is so many wonderful people out there.

You have just learned how to make people like you. Ask them to tell you about themselves. Ask them all sorts of questions about what they like. Express a genuine interest in them. Do NOT talk about yourself and your problems; they don't want to hear it. Ask them to tell you about THEM.

I bet your friends think you are great. They get to tell somebody all the things they want to tell, and in this case it is YOU.

No you are not wrong. It seems to me no one knows how to just talk about something or someone other than themselves. It would be nice to talk about anything even politics.

well some friends, look to others for help and guidance, that's what friends are for, you just have to learn when to say no.
